Mark your calendars! Participate in JPAC public consultation on the CEC’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan
Montreal, 4 March 2020—The Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) will be requesting public input on the CEC’s draft 2021–2025 Strategic Plan via the CEC website from March 16 to April 2, 2020.
In addition, on 23 March 2020, JPAC will host a livestreamed consultation from Montreal in partnership with McGill University’s Max Bell School of Public Policy. Members of the public can participate in the session via livestream at www.cec.org/livestream and send in their comments using #JPAC2020 on sli.do.
“The new Environmental Cooperation Agreement between Canada, Mexico and the United States marks a renewed commitment from our three countries to work together on environmental issues of continental concern. Strong public participation is at the core of success in these efforts and I encourage members of the public to submit their comments and views,” said Bob Varney, Chair of the CEC’s Joint Public Advisory Committee.
The CEC’s Strategic Plan outlines key priorities for environmental cooperation in North America. It is focused on priorities established by the CEC Council, composed of the highest-level federal environmental authorities (cabinet level or equivalent) from Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The draft full text of the CEC’s 2021–2025 Strategic Plan and public consultation page will be announced and available on the CEC’s website as of 16 March 2020.
