Discover Six Newly Updated North American Environmental Atlas Map Layers
The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) has released six updated digital map layers through the North American Environmental Atlas. These include:
- Airports, 2026
- Industrial facilities reporting to Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTR) in North America, 2023
- Precipitation (1981–2010) – Monthly | Annual
- Temperature (1981–2010) – Monthly | Annual
Together, these new layers support geographic analysis and informed decision-making across North America on topics such as pollution, hazardous-waste logistics, emergency response, climate-vulnerability, biodiversity, environmental justice and supply-chain mapping.
The North American Environmental Atlas combines and harmonizes geospatial data, allowing for the visualization of various environmental and human aspects across North America, providing continental and regional perspectives on environmental issues that cross borders.

Learnings and Best Practices from Youth Engagement Week (YEW) 2025
The YEW 2025 Best Practices Summaries build on the reflections and lessons shared by young leaders and youth-supportive organizations during a three-part webinar series that explored the role of youth-led initiatives in advancing solutions to environmental challenges and sustainable development. The series focused on three areas: Indigenous and Traditional Ecological Knowledge, youth intra/entrepreneurship and community resilience.
The summaries synthesize key messages and takeaways drawn from the experiences of the youth facilitators, the speakers’ contributions and the dialogue with the public. They also highlight best practices for youth engaging in these fields, as well as for organizations seeking to support and collaborate with them.
