Testimonial

Monitoring milkweed for monarch butterfly activity has become a yearly tradition for me! This summer actually marks my 9th year collecting. I appreciate the immense efforts of Monarch Larva Monitoring Project (MLMP) and it's been a pleasure contributing to the monarch science community.

I am a Park Ecologist solely responsible for keeping dozens of milkweed patches safe.

Over the years, Common Milkweed has bloomed naturally along our fairways and "rough" areas. Swamp Milkweed and Butterflyweed also grows lushly within our pond buffer and pollinator garden habitats.

In addition to utilizing these areas as study sites, they have also become outlets for learning. I have designed signage, nature display cases, and often organize tours to educate the community (students, girl scouts, golfers) about the importance of the milkweed-monarch relationship and our contribution to MLMP.
