CEC Launches Five-Year Review Process of the Implementation of the Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (ECA)

The five-year review of the Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (ECA) represents a key moment in the continued mandate of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC). The objective of this review is to provide recommendations that will help the CEC Council improve CEC operations and effectiveness in achieving ECA objectives. The review’s assessment will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the past and consider future directions for the CEC.

The CEC Council appointed an Independent Review Committee (IRC) to undertake the five-year review of the ECA. Members of the IRC were chosen for their expertise in environmental management and the trade-environment nexus in North America or related fields, familiarity with the ECA and the CEC, and experience in business, academia, or nongovernmental organizations, as well as their ability to bring forward a diversity of perspectives through communication, collaboration and consensus building.

Learn more about this process and meet the Committee.
