Description
The concepts used to define and describe Level III ecoregions follow the original methodology outlined in the 1997 CEC publication, Ecological Regions of North America: Toward a Common Perspective, which provided a descriptive framework in its presentation and discussion of the Level I terrestrial ecoregions. Under this framework, ecoregions were defined in a holistic and comprehensive manner categorized according to a variety of biological, physical and human factors that are found to one extent or another in all natural and human-modified ecosystems across North America.
