North American Terrestrial Ecoregions—Level III

Description

The concepts used to define and describe Level III ecoregions follow the original methodology outlined in the 1997 CEC publication, Ecological Regions of North America: Toward a Common Perspective, which provided a descriptive framework in its presentation and discussion of the Level I terrestrial ecoregions. Under this framework, ecoregions were defined in a holistic and comprehensive manner categorized according to a variety of biological, physical and human factors that are found to one extent or another in all natural and human-modified Ecosistemas across North America.
