Supporting Governance and Compliance

Supporting Governance and Compliance

The transformation of our economic systems needed to address the environmental crises requires changes and actions at all levels. At the same time, it is crucial to provide support to governance and institutional frameworks to facilitate the effective implementation, monitoring and enforcement of the required sustainability policies, initiatives and actions. Robust governance structures provide the foundation for enabling action and meaningful change, establishing standards and regulations, enhancing institutional capacity and ensuring compliance.

This area of the CEC’s work focuses on supporting governance and institutional frameworks across our region to enhance their capacity to advance sustainability. Work in this area addresses key issues, including sustainability standards and regulations, institutional capacity, enforcement mechanisms, financing and economic or market instruments, among others.
