Blanca Estela Sánchez Reyes is a 32-year-old Zapotec Indigenous woman from San Miguel Suchixtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, who has dedicated her career to community work since 2010. Motivated by her interest in sustainable development, she did undergraduate studies in rural development, specializing in strengthening community processes. In 2012, she co-founded MbisBin Semilla para la Siembra, a grassroots organization that promotes alternatives based on efficient water management, agroecology and forest conservation as solutions to environmental issues in the state of Oaxaca. In addition to serving as serving as the president of MbisBin, she leads projects which contribute to improving livelihoods in the rural communities where the organization works.
