Join the Quad Cities communities in discussing reduction of plastic litter. This event is organized by the Mississippi River Cities and Town Initiative (MRCTI) as part of the CEC’s project Reduction of Marine Litter.

The Last Stop: The Ocean campaign and associated local action plan workshops aims to raise local awareness of the journey of marine litter and to engage communities in developing solutions to reduce land-based marine litter. As part of this effort, the Quad Cities Region (Iowa and Illinois, United States) was selected as the US pilot area to deploy a trash capture device in a local waterway to build awareness on the issue. In parallel, the local community will be engaged in activities with the goal of reducing land-based marine litter originating from the community.

In addition to attending the workshops, Quad Cities residents are encouraged to take a short survey that will help craft recommendations to reduce plastic pollution. Survey-takers will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card offered by MRCTI.
