Eighteenth Council Regular Session and JPAC Regular Session
The CEC's annual Council Session will take place on 22 June, with much of the agenda open to the public to attend as observers. Council members—Canada's Environment Minister Peter Kent, US EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson and Mexico's Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources Juan Elvira Quesada—will participate in a forum where selected members of the public will make presentations of up to five minutes on matters related to the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation or CEC endeavors.
The CEC's Joint Public Advisory Committee will hold its regular session on the same day to discuss possible recommendations to Council, including with respect to issues explored in the previous day's public forum on managing e-waste in North America. The public may also participate in this session as observers.
JPAC – Managing E-waste in North America: A Public Forum
A forum organized by the CEC’s Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) to discuss the rapidly growing amount of electronic waste in North America and ways Canada, Mexico and the United States can promote better management of e-waste through product design, recycling and enforcement cooperation to halt illegal trade of discarded electronic products within and from North America. Forum results will help JPAC in its consideration of possible recommendations to the CEC Council.
