Las actividades públicas comenzarán el 16 de agosto con un foro sobre comunidades y ecosistemas saludables en América del Norte, organizado por el Comité Consultivo Público Conjunto (CCPC) de la CCA. Los resultados de este foro servirán de apoyo al CCPC para la formulación de recomendaciones al Consejo de la CCA.
Por otra parte, en su sesión anual ordinaria, el Consejo de la CCA —integrado por los secretarios de Estado de medio ambiente (o sus equivalentes) de los tres socios comerciales del TLCAN: Jim Prentice por Canadá, Lisa P. Jackson por Estados Unidos y Juan Elvira Quesada por México— examinará temas ambientales de interés común y confirmará la orientación del programa de trabajo de la Comisión para los próximos cinco años.
