1998 Funding of the Commission
THE COUNCIL:
ACKNOWLEDGING that the draft 1998 Annual Program and Budget was submitted for the approval of Council by the Executive Director of the CEC Secretariat in accordance with Article 11(6), and contains proposed 1999 planning for cooperative work on selected projects for reconsideration in 1999 by the Council;
ALSO ACKNOWLEDGING the importance of sustaining key cooperative activities through an adequate level of funding;
RECOGNIZING the importance of the public’s role under the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation in conserving, protecting and enhancing the environment;
HEREBY AGREES that the funding of the work program of the CEC shall be of $US 9 million for the financial year 1998, to be contributed in equal shares by the three Parties, subject to the availability of appropriated funds in accordance with the Parties’ legal procedures.
