COUNCIL RESOLUTION 11-02
Instruction to the Secretariat of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation regarding the withdrawal by the Submitters of the submission SEM-06-005 (Species at Risk)
THE COUNCIL:
SUPPORTIVE of the process provided for in Articles 14 and 15 of the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC) regarding submissions on enforcement matters and the preparation of factual records;
CONSIDERING the submission SEM-06-005 filed on 10 October 2006, by Nature Canada, the Sierra Club (US and Canada), Conservation Northwest, the David Suzuki Foundation, Environmental Defence, Forest Ethics, Ontario Nature, the Western Canada Wilderness Committee, BC Nature, the Federation of Alberta Naturalists, the Natural History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nature Nova Scotia, and Nature Quebec;
RECALLING Council Resolution 10-05, in which the Council instructed the Secretariat to prepare a factual record with regard to submission SEM-06-005;
HAVING CONSIDERED the 18 January 2011 notification submitted to Council by the Secretariat, indicating the receipt of a letter from the Submitters withdrawing submission SEM-06-005, and more specifically asking the Secretary and Council to halt further activities regarding the submission;
HEREBY UNANIMOUSLY:
RESCINDS Council Resolution 10-05; and
INSTRUCTS the Secretariat to proceed no further with the preparation of a factual record with regard to submission SEM-06-005 (Species at Risk).
