The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) is working with our partners in Canada, Mexico, and the United States to help reduce the amount of food loss and waste in North America. The CEC\u2019s 2015\u20132016 Initiative on Food Waste Reduction and Recovery<\/a> pooled together the resources and expertise of government officials and industry stakeholders across North America to cultivate a better understanding of food loss and waste in the three countries and the solutions aimed at mitigating it. This website presents information on these efforts, including the proceedings of our workshops, results of public engagement campaigns on food recovery and food waste source reduction, and links to leading organizations that are working to reduce waste in North America and globally.<\/p>\n As a follow-up to the CEC North American Initiatives on Food Waste Reduction and Recovery and the North American Initiative on Organic Waste Diversion and Processing<\/a>, the CEC is undertaking a new project<\/a> with a redesigned focus on measuring and mitigating food loss and waste. Created under the CEC\u2019s 2017\u20132018 Operational Plan, this project will work to effectively measure food loss and waste in the North American food supply chain and correlate it to environmental and socioeconomic impacts.
