Originada en 2012, en el marco del sistema de salud de las comunidades ind\u00edgenas de Alaska como un proyecto del Consorcio para la Salud de las Tribus Nativas de Alaska (<em>Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium<\/em>, ANTHC), la red LEO tiene el objetivo de poner en contacto a expertos locales de comunidades rurales con otros expertos en diversos temas que pueden encontrarse en zonas geogr\u00e1ficas distantes.<\/p>\n<p>A trav\u00e9s de su plataforma, quienes integran esta red comparten e intercambian observaciones; establecen contacto sobre diversos temas con expertos de distintos \u00e1mbitos de conocimiento \u2014local, ind\u00edgena y cient\u00edfico\u2014; contribuyen a la detecci\u00f3n de problemas ambientales emergentes en sus comunidades, y participan en una gama de oportunidades de observaci\u00f3n y ciencia ciudadana.
