{"id":43,"date":"2018-01-10T11:05:27","date_gmt":"2018-01-10T16:05:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cec.org\/cites\/?page_id=43"},"modified":"2020-07-19T12:02:59","modified_gmt":"2020-07-19T16:02:59","slug":"about-this-website","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cec.org\/cites\/about-this-website\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About CITES and the CEC<\/h2>\n<p>The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) is working with government and stakeholders in Canada, Mexico, and the United States to implement trinationally agreed, high priority actions for four species groups (sharks, <a href=\"tarantulas\">tarantulas<\/a>, turtle\/tortoises, and certain timber species) identified as part of the CEC Operational Plan 2015-2016 project: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cec.org\/strengthening-conservation-and-sustainable-production-of-selected-cites-appendix-ii-species-in-north-america\/\">Strengthening Conservation and Sustainable Production of Selected CITES\u2019 Appendix II Species in North America<\/a>. Through this work, as part of its current project <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cec.org\/supporting-sustainable-trade-of-cites-species\/\">Supporting Sustainable Trade of CITES Species<\/a>, the CEC contributes to the legal, sustainable and traceable production and trade in these selected species. These implementation efforts are intended to engage a broad set of stakeholders\u2014including state, provincial, and local levels of government, local communities, producers, traders, investors, academy and consumers\/aficionados.<\/p>\n<p>This website represents a trinational approach to find workable solutions to trade in priority species.
