Youth Initiatives

Our Work With Youth

North American youth are creative and innovative leaders, entrepreneurs, and educators who often demonstrate the value and need for inclusive problem solving and dialogue. Given their positive and inspiring contributions to environmental work across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, we invite youth to engage with us to help us strengthen our efforts.

Whether through competitions, public engagement, grant programs, internships, or by providing expert advice, we invite interested individuals and organizations focused on youth empowerment to engage with our work.

GELP Generation of Environmental Leaders Program

Generation of Environmental Leaders Program

Discover the Generation of Environmental Leaders Program (GELP), an initiative inviting youth (18-35) in Canada, Mexico, and the United States to share their solutions to support North American communities and preserve our shared waters, lands and air.

The GELP offers more than a platform for ideas; it provides official mentorship, networking opportunities, and seed funding to amplify the impact of solutions in local communities.

Join the GELP and be part of a collaborative network of young environmental leaders.

2023 CEC Youth Engagement Week

The first CEC Youth Engagement Week brought together nine outstanding youth leaders from Canada, Mexico, and the United States who traveled to Montreal, Canada, where they learned about the work of the CEC and engaged in fruitful conversations aimed at strengthening youth engagement in North American environmental cooperation. Their valuable contributions will help inspire change and amplify the voices of youth, who are at the forefront of addressing environmental challenges in North America.
