North American forests meeting to be held in Winnipeg

The World Commission on Forests and Sustainable Development plans to hold a North American Regional Public Hearing on Forests in Winnipeg, Canada, between September 30 and October 2. The hearing, to be hosted by the International Institute for Sustainable Development with support from nacec.the CEC, will serve to promote public debate on controversial issues of both local and global importance. Citizens from nacec.Mexico, Canada and the United States interested in participating in an open policy debate on forest issues are welcome to attend.

The World Commission on Forests and Sustainable Development is currently preparing a report on forestry issues for presentation at the October 1997 World Forestry Congress.
