Continental Pollutant Pathways

An Agenda for Cooperation to Address Long-Range Transport of Air Pollution in North America

The long-range transport through the air of several persistent pollutants of widespread concern throughout North America (continental pollutant pathways) was judged to be such an issue, and at the instigation of the Secretariat of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), an Expert Advisory Panel was convened to study the problem.

This document draws upon the report produced by that Expert Panel.

The study itself was initiated under the authority of Article 13 of the NAAEC, which allows the Secretariat to prepare a report for the Council on any matter within the scope of the CEC's annual work program.

This document is being made available to the public with the hope that the recommendations contained in it will foster trilateral cooperation on the issue of continental pollutant pathways in North America.
