Lesson 1: Depletion of the Earth's Ozone Layer

The Importance of the Ozone Layer

The term "Ozone Layer" is used to describe the ozone molecules present in the stratosphere. The ozone layer stretches around the entire globe of the Earth like a bubble, filtering out harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Destruction of the ozone layer increases the amount of ultraviolet radiation reaching the earth which can cause severe effects on human health and the environment.
