This relief map shows the terrain of North America relative to mean sea level using hypsometric tints (a gradation of different colors for various elevations).

The image shown above was created by the National Institute of Statistics, Geography, and Informatics of Mexico using an elevation layer compiled by the National Atlas of the United States®.

This North American Atlas base layer relies upon GTOPO30 data from Natural Resources Canada and the U.S. Geological Survey. GTOPO30 is a global digital elevation model with resolution of approximately 1 kilometer.
