Meetings in Montreal, Quebec, will feature public forum

Montreal, 16 March 2011—The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) of North America will hold the Eighteenth Regular Session of its Council and related events on 21-22 June 2011, in Montreal, Canada.

The CEC Council—Canadian Environment Minister Peter Kent, Mexican Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources Juan Elvira Quesada, and US Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson—will discuss environmental issues of common concern and provide direction on the CEC’s work program.

Public events will begin on 21 June, with a forum organized by the CEC’s Joint Public Advisory Committee on a topic to be announced. JPAC members—five citizens appointed by each country—will consider the results of this forum in any future advice they may provide to the Council.
