Meet Our New Outreach & Partnerships Officer, Georgina O’Farrill

Montreal, 6 May 2020—Georgina O’Farrill, PhD. is a research professional and project manager with more than ten years’ experience coordinating and managing international projects and programs with strong stakeholder engagement. In her new position as Outreach and Partnerships Officer on the executive team, Georgina will oversee all opportunities for outreach and partnerships for the CEC.

Her goal is to leverage our work by finding opportunities to collaborate with you, our stakeholders. Do not hesitate to reach out to her with any potential opportunities for collaboration.

Georgina is passionate about the conservation and protection of the environment for future generations. With 5 years’ experience at the CEC on a wide range of projects throughout North America, she strongly believes that cooperation is the key to finding solutions to environmental challenges. She has extensive knowledge of environmental issues including species and ecosystems conservation, climate change, the use and trade of species and the importance of community and local knowledge in environmental conservation.

She is also experienced in creating partnerships. Throughout her career, her leadership and interpersonal skills have allowed her to facilitate international collaborations and support the creation of networks among academia, NGOs and government.

Georgina holds a Ph.D. in Ecology and Conservation from McGill University, in addition to her post-doctoral research for the University of Toronto. She was born and raised in Mexico City and holds a Biology undergraduate degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and has lived in Montreal for over 15 years. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French, so do not hesitate to say Hi! Allô! Hola!
