CEC hosts workshop on environmental compliance along North American trade corridors

Montreal, 28/10/2009 – The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) invites the public to participate in the Workshop on Environmental Compliance along North American Trade Corridors, to be held in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico on 9–10 November.

In addition to providing a forum for discussion and analysis, the workshop seeks to bring enforcement authorities and the principal actors in the trade of environmentally regulated goods together, in order to foster environmental compliance along North America’s trade corridors while facilitating trade.

The event, open to the public subject to availability, is part of the CEC initiative to enhance the effective enforcement of environmental laws through the exchange of information and best practices, including sustainable transportation of persons and merchandise across the Canadian-US and US-Mexican borders.

The conference program also includes presentations by representatives of the three countries’ government agencies (Environment Canada, US EPA and Mexico’s Profepa).

The meeting agenda and registration form are available on the CEC website. Please confirm your participation by e-mailing the registration form to meetingservices@cec.org, or faxing the form to 1-514-350-4345, no later than 3 November 2009.

For further information, please contact Gabriela Sánchez at +514-350-4329 gsanchez@cec.org or Marco Antonio Heredia Fragoso at +514-350-4302 maheredia@cec.org.
