CEC holds meeting to analyze topics related to the North American PRTR programs

Montreal, 22/10/2009 – The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) invites all interested parties—communities, industry, governments, nongovernmental organizations, and the public—to participate in its next public meeting on the North American Pollutant Release and Transfer (PRTR) project, to be held in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, 10–11 November 2009.

This meeting will offer an open forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas relating to North American environmental pollution and public access to information about it. The meeting will also highlight developments in the CEC’s PRTR project—among others, new tools to facilitate access to PRTR data and their analysis.

The agenda will feature presentations by state, provincial, community and industry representatives on environmental pollution issues, PRTR reporting, and pollution prevention and reduction initiatives. There will also be a session to discuss proposals for future special feature analyses in the Taking Stock report series.

The preliminary agenda and registration form for the meeting are available on the CEC website. Attendance is limited, so those wishing to guarantee their participation in the event should complete the registration form and return it by e-mail to CEC’s Meeting Services, meetingservices@cec.org, or by fax at: 1-514-350-4345, by 2 November 2009 at the latest.

If you desire additional information about the meeting, please contact Marilou Nichols at 1-514-350-4341 (mnichols@cec.org), or Danielle Vallée at 1-514-350-4333 (dvallee@cec.org).
