Videos and presentations from CEC’s Council session and climate policy workshop now online

 
Montreal, 15/06/2009 – Video recordings of all public sessions as well as speaker presentations from the Commission for Environmental Cooperation’s (CEC) annual Council session and related meetings are now available on the CEC’s website.

Downloadable videos and presentations from the meetings held in Denver, Colorado, from 22-24 June can be found at: http://www.cec.org/council.

Among the presentations available is the keynote address for the Climate Policy Coherence in North America Workshop organized by the CEC’s Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC). Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development Director Durwood Zaelke’s address on “Fast-action mitigation to complement cuts in CO2 emissions” can also be viewed in the recorded webcast of the 22 June workshop, which included presentations from more than 10 international experts on climate change issues.

Other sessions included presentations on air quality, chemicals management, biodiversity conservation, enforcement and trade and environment to the CEC’s Council: Canadian Environment Minister Jim Prentice, Mexican Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources, Juan Elvira Quesada, and US Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson.

Nine members of the public also made statements to the Council on issues ranging from climate change to renewable energy and corporate sustainability. A video of the statements made during the Council Public Session on 24 June is available.
