| Montreal, 26/03/2009 – Members of the public, experts and government representatives will discuss new directions and details on a strategic approach to trilateral chemicals management in Canada, Mexico and the United States next week in San Antonio, Texas.
The two-day meeting, on 1–2 April, is an annual event, held in various cities throughout North America, open to the public, and hosted by the CEC’s Sound Management of Chemicals Working Group in order to understand and address stakeholders’ perspectives on chemicals’ management and risk reduction issues.
The SMOC Working Group will present progress in priority areas previously identified by stakeholders and will describe actions being considered to further strengthen awareness, public participation and capacity-building activities so that officials have reliable, comparable information to help foster regional implementation of risk reduction activities.
The meeting will also feature a panel discussion on managing chemicals in the petroleum and petrochemical sectors and other
breakout discussion sessions.
Information about the meeting, including the agenda and registration form, are available online.
