The North American Environmental Atlas brings together harmonized and accurate geographic information in an online resource of maps, GIS data, metadata and interactive map layers at a 1:10,000,000 scale. This growing collection of base and thematic layers—available for free download—serves as a foundation for depicting status and trends of environmental conditions across North America.

The North American Environmental Atlas also supports several specialized mapping initiatives including the North American Land Change Monitoring System (NALCMS) and an industrial pollutant  mapping tool for use with Google Earth.
