How will transgenic material affect maize diversity in Mexico? What are the social and cultural effects associated with transgenic maize production? And what impacts will there be, if any, on environmental, agricultural, animal and human health?

On 11 March 2004, members of the public, academia and government, will meet in Oaxaca, Mexico, to discuss these and other relevant issues. The Maize and Biodiversity Symposium is an integral part of the CEC’s investigation and an opportunity for the public to engage in the process.
