The Commission for Environmental Cooperation is proud to present Marine Ecoregions of North America, a book that celebrates the richness and wealth of our region's common ocean and coastal waters. Marine Ecoregions is a visual and narrative journey across the marine ecosystems of the continent, and a compelling account of an environment that knows no borders.

Compiled by a distinguished group of specialists from Canada, Mexico and the United States, it describes and maps the North American oceanic and coastal waters, classifying them into 24 marine ecoregions according to oceanographic features and geographically distinct assemblages of species.

We hope that this book will encourage a sense of collective responsibility and a strategic and collaborative approach in confronting the common challenge of conserving the extraordinary wealth found in our shared oceans.
